Cupcakes - a little piece of heaven

Today one of my sister-in-laws treated me to lunch at Apte. This is the BEST place in Melbs to get a cupcake. Forget all those other 'cupcake specialty' places - they do not rate a mention. Anyhoo, the lunch was delicious and the cupcake superb.

I ate it too quickly to get a photo of it so I've substituted another cupcake pic instead. The cupcake pictured below may look tasty but don't be fooled. It only rated a 3/10 on my cup-cake-o-meter. It's origin shall remain nameless.

How now Brown Owl?

In an effort to ensure that I have a couple of hours of uninterrupted craft time each month, I joined Brown Owls. I went to my first sesh a few weeks ago and started stitching my owl - clearly I was doing more talking than stitching....oh well. Lots of nice crafty gals to meet AND icy poles. It was that stinker of a hot day. We had a garage sale today - and it served to remind me that the world is made up of all types. All the money was going to a good cause so we thought that people would be a little more generous with their bargaining. But I was wrong...there certainly were some very strange requests coming from people. One guy checked out everything we had, combed through things then looked around and said "Oh, do you have an electric oven for sale?". I wanted to say "Yes. We do. But instead of displaying it with the other merchandise, we thought we'd hide it away and wait until someone asked for it." But I didn't say that. I kept a straight face and said "No, sorry." One of the other girls who was helping out with the selling said that he then asked if he could have a satchel bag for free...what part of "All the proceeds are donated" did he not get??

Rainy Melbourne

Melbs has been wet wet wet. The rain is bloody awesome for a few reasons:
1. We need it
2. It sounds lovely
3. It makes the flowers grow
4. It makes our fruit and veg grow
5. It makes everything feel nice and cosy

BUT on the other hand...the roof in one of our bedrooms is leaking, like really leaking. And that sux.

BUT Miffy is cute. This is the picture for March in the Miffy calendar my sis gave me. Miffy must know the weather forecast.

My clothes match my soft furnishings

I bought this fabulous Amy Butler fabric a few months ago. It's heavy weight cotton and I've had it in my 'to do' pile for yonks. A few weeks back, I finally finished this skirt. It is the first thing I've made from a pattern! My sister-in-law helped me put it together which was kind of her.

Reasons I'm proud of this effort:
1. It fits - nicely
2. I made it all by myself (verbal instructions from said SIL still counts as me making it)
3. It is beautiful, beautiful fabric
4. It is fully lined
5. I got to use my overlocker
6. It has hard things like darts, a zip and magic waist tape stuff
7. I made it from a pattern

Yay me!

p.s. I cannot wear this skirt when I am near my front door. Scroll down to find out why...

Tea on a rainy day

Isn't this the most beautiful teapot? My mum and dad gave it to me as an Easter prez - much more lasting than chocolate! My kitchen is full of red pots and pans, mixers and utensils but this teapot doesn't come in fire engine red so mum selected this beautiful blue. It matches my Cornish Blue measuring jug perfectly. Have I mentioned that this jug is probably my fav thing in my kitchen? I just love it.
Today is blustery, grey and rainy. I love days like this. The little bloke is fast asleep, all nice and cosy in his sleep suit. Oliver and I are sitting on the couch reading (or in my case, blogging) with a hot cuppa. Slience is lovely.

Indulging...too often

I am addicted to white chocolate and this Easter has totally undone me. I planned to eat one ear of this bunny my sister gave me. That turned into both ears. Oh, I'll just eat his face. Ok, I'll level out his back. Look, I'd better eat his tail. There isn't that much more of him left. I'll polish him off - wouldn't want to put it in the cupboard half eaten. Nooooo, that would just encourage the ants.

Gettin' back to nature

Today we visited some friends at Kangaroo Ground. How lovely is it out there? The little bloke loved it - lots of outdoorsy stuff to eat and lots of dirt that made him thoroughly filthy.

Last post I promised pics of my latest craft projects...and boy am I about to deliver! First up is a little baby bee that I made from a Melly and Me pattern. I did make it in record time (during the bub's morning nap) and consequently had a few hiccups - namely I added a seam allowance so my baby bee looks like it is on 'roids. Ignore the slobber marks at the top of bee's head and the fact that he has already had one eye chewed off. It's clear to see that it's owner loves his new little companion.

Time has passed...quickly

I haven't posted in more than a month! Isn't that the cardinal sin of a blogger? I promise to do better in the future.
Lots has happened in the last month, I've been working on lots of cool projects. I'll post soon with pics. Posting with no pics is a big yawn.
So keep checking back. I promise one new post every day for at least the next week!
Happy Easter to everyone. Our little family of three spent Easter with the grandpez in Albury. We had an Easter hunt and obviously all the spoils went to the little man. He's had a lovely time chowing down on the odd hot cross bun. You know what I hate about the Easter weekend? It signals the END of the hot cross bun season. I do not understand why those little beauties aren't an all-year-round staple.
